Treats!!

My pets love treats, they will do pretty much anything to get some! My dog's favourite treats are definitely Greenies. As soon as I say the word or show her the package she sits down (acting like a good dog who deserves a treat). She will even jump up for them if I hold it above her head, and it used to be the only thing that could get her over an agility jump (which I've given up on by now). I gave her one today, and she did the usual sit, then jump for it when I'm not looking. I took some pictures of her eating it (more like inhaling it, she finished it in seconds).
For my cat, her favourite treats are Temptations. She used to eat all kinds of treats, but ever since we gave her these, she refuses to eat any other kind of treat. She's a very picky cat in general. The flavour of the Temptations doesn't even matter to her. I can get her to stand up on her hind legs to get them, its actually pretty cute!
My hamster and fish have favourite treats too. The fish love frozen bloodworms, and peas. Oh and oranges, they love those even more than the peas. And my hamster loves those little granola bar on a stick things. But he usually just buries most of his food anyway!
I think this picture is hilarious!

Puppy Mills

The first pet related issue I will talk about is puppy mills. I'm sure we all know what they are, they are basically factories mass producing puppies, usually in horrible conditions. The puppies are then sold to pet stores, where they are sold to people who are often unaware of where these puppies come from. Most don't even think about how those puppies might have ended up in a store. Life for the puppies' parents is much worse. They usually spend their entire lives at the mill as long as they are able to breed, usually living in small cages with very little human contact. The sad thing is that puppy mills are still legal in most places, and any existing laws are rarely enforced. I think that they should be illegal, or at the very least, they should be better regulated, so that these dogs can live a better quality of life. Do you agree? Share your thoughts about puppy mills!

Life is petastic!

This is my first blog, so it probably wont sound good at all, but I will try my best. First I guess I should introduce myself, this blog, and of course my pets. My name is Jule, I'm 17 years old and I live in Manitoba, Canada. I'm going to write this blog about living with pets. I'll talk about life with my own pets, pet related issues, and some of my favourite pet products. My pets include my seven year old German Shepherd dog Djina, my seven year old cat Lucky, my hamster Fluffy, and my many fish. I will not name each individual fish, because there are many but I will list the types of fish that I keep. I have goldfish (single tailed and fancy), betta fish, tiger barbs, black skirt tetras, chinese algae eater, albino bristlenose plecos, dwarf puffers, ruby barbs, gold barb, and platies. Life with pets is great!
